British forces are ready to arrive in Ukraine within days after Moscow and Kiev agree to stop fighting, the Ministry of Defense in London announced, quoted by PA Media/DPA and BTA.
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with US President Donald Trump in Anchorage, Alaska, where they discussed the conflict but failed to reach an agreement.
After talking for nearly three hours, they refused to answer questions from reporters, but both made statements, with Trump saying that "a lot of progress" had been made, with "many points" agreed, while "very few" remained to be resolved.
Earlier this summer, the British government supported international efforts to create the so-called Multinational Force Ukraine (also known as the "Coalition of the Willing" – note transl.) - a military plan to strengthen Ukraine's defenses after the conflict subsides in order to prevent future Russian aggression
"Planning has continued on a permanent basis to ensure that the force can be deployed in the days after the cessation of hostilities", a Ministry of Defense spokesman said.
According to the government, "along with securing the skies over Ukraine and supporting safer seas, the force is expected to restore (Ukraine's) land forces by providing logistics, weapons and training expertise".
This "will strengthen Ukraine's path to peace and stability by helping rebuild its own Ukrainian forces," the spokesman added.
Projects for The "Multinational Force Ukraine" was drafted last month after senior officials met in Paris to agree on a strategy and coordinate plans with the EU, NATO and the US.
