European leaders in joint declaration: Putin cannot have veto power over Ukraine's path to the EU and NATO

Several European leaders jointly pledged to continue supporting Ukraine and maintaining pressure on Russia through sanctions

A group of European leaders are ready to facilitate a trilateral summit between the presidents of the United States, Ukraine and Russia, Agence France-Presse reported. This is stated in a joint statement by several European leaders, who were informed earlier today by US President Donald Trump about the results of his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska yesterday, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

Afterwards, these leaders plus the heads of NATO and the European Commission held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The group of several European leaders jointly committed to continuing to support Ukraine and maintain pressure on Russia through sanctions, their joint statement also said, Agence France-Presse reported.

The group of European leaders added that Moscow cannot have the right to veto Ukraine's path to the EU or NATO, Agence France-Presse reported.

“Ukraine is the one that must make decisions concerning its territory“, the statement added.

The joint declaration was made by French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
