Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers, capable of carrying nuclear weapons, carried out a four-hour routine patrol flight over international waters in the Barents Sea, TASS reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry, BTA reports.
Initially, Russian news agencies, including TASS, reported that foreign fighter jets were scrambled to track the Russian bombers. However, the news agencies then republished their reports, failing to mention that foreign fighter jets had been deployed, Reuters reported.
Interfax, which also reported that foreign fighter jets had been deployed, retracted its information and published it redacted.
