A Russian missile strike damaged a plant of the US company Flextronics in the city of Mukachevo, western Ukraine, overnight, local authorities reported, quoted by the BBC, reports News.bg.

According to the Zakarpattia regional administration, at least 15 people were injured, 10 were hospitalized, and two sought medical help themselves. Five of those hospitalized are in stable condition.

The head of the administration, Miroslav Biletsky, said that the strike destroyed a warehouse at the company and caused a fire that led to large amounts of smoke. He urged residents to close their windows and avoid going outside due to dangerous combustion products.

The regional prosecutor's office confirmed that two "Kalibur" missiles were fired at the site, and "Shahed" drones were also used. Mukachevo, located just 35 km from the Hungarian border, is rarely targeted by Russian attacks.

According to Ukrainian media and the BBC, the affected plant is Flex-Ukraine, a subsidiary of Flextronics, one of the world's leading electronics manufacturers. The plant was opened in 2012 and employs more than 2,600 people. According to 2018 information, components for electrical appliances, coffee makers, printer cartridges and electronic labels are produced there.

Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybega condemned the strike, calling it an attack on a “purely civilian object”. “This is not the first Russian attack on American companies in Ukraine, after the strikes on Boeing’s offices in Kiev earlier this year and other attacks. There is no military logic or necessity, just terror against people, businesses and normal life in our country,” he wrote in X.

“Therefore, efforts to force Russia to end the war are crucial, and Ukraine will do everything possible to bring peace closer,” Sybega added.

The Russian Defense Ministry has not commented on the attack.
