Senior military officials from the US and several European countries have developed military options for Ukraine and will present them to their respective national security advisers, the US military said, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

The agency has already reported that military planners from the US and Europe have begun studying security guarantees for Ukraine after the conflict, after President Donald Trump pledged to help defend the country as part of any agreement to end Russia's war in Ukraine.

"These options will be presented to the respective national security advisers of each country for appropriate consideration in ongoing diplomatic efforts“, the Pentagon said in a statement. Meetings between the defense chiefs of the United States, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Ukraine were held in Washington between Tuesday and Thursday.

Ukraine and its European allies were encouraged by Trump’s pledge at a summit on Monday to provide security guarantees for Kiev, but many questions remain unanswered, Reuters reported. Officials have warned that it will take time for U.S. and European planners to determine what would be militarily feasible and acceptable to the Kremlin.

One option was to send European forces to Ukraine, with the United States in charge of command and control, the sources told Reuters. The Russian Foreign Ministry has ruled out deploying troops from NATO countries to secure a peace deal.
