Clinton suggested to Putin to develop a strategy for joint fight against terrorist Osama bin Laden

This is proven by declassified US government documents

Bill Clinton, who was the 42nd President of the United States, stated at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2000 that Moscow and Washington should develop a strategy for joint fight against terrorist Osama bin Laden.

This is proven by declassified US government documents published by the public research organization “National Security Archive“ at “George Washington“ University in the capital.

“As for the United States, we are more affected by the actions of Bin Laden, and here Russia and the United States need a coordinated strategy“, Clinton is quoted as saying in the minutes of his conversation with Putin in the Kremlin on June 4, 2000. The document was prepared by White House officials.

Clinton suggested to Putin “to develop a comprehensive approach to actions against Bin Laden“. He was of the opinion that air strikes by the United States or Russia to destroy the terrorist “will not be effective“.

Bin Laden was the leader of the terrorist group “Al Qaeda“. The American authorities offered a reward of $25 million for information that would allow him to be detained or killed. Bin Laden was eliminated in May 2011 at his home in Abbottabad as a result of a special operation conducted by the United States.
