Pyongyang said that South Korean soldiers fired warning shots in the area of the border between the two Koreas and described these actions as a deliberate provocation, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
In addition, North Korea said that warning messages that the South Korean army sends through loudspeakers placed along the border are becoming more frequent.
Last year, North Korea began building fences along the heavily fortified border, as well as blowing up roads and railways connecting the two Koreas.
Pyongyang will "take appropriate countermeasures" for any obstacle to the fence project, warned Lieutenant General Ko Yong-chol, deputy chief of the North Korean army's general staff, today.
The message contradicts South Korean President Lee Jae-myeon's statement last week that he would restore the agreement to end hostilities along the border with North Korea.
Pyongyang today also criticized joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States as "extremely provocative… training for real war". Seoul and Washington say their goals are entirely defensive.
