Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected claims made in a UN report that residents of Gaza City and surrounding areas are facing mass famine, BNR reported.

He called the report a "blatant lie" the report of the Integrated Classification of Food Security Levels, according to which there is "serious evidence" that famine is spreading in parts of Gaza, affecting 514,000 people.

The document also says that by the end of September, the number of starving people will exceed 640,000.

The Israeli government claims that the conclusions are based on false information provided by "Hamas".

Prime Minister Netanyahu said that since the beginning of the war, Israel has ensured the entry of 2 million tons of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

However, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, announced that the mass famine in Gaza is a direct result of the actions of the Israeli government, which has illegally restricted the entry and distribution of humanitarian aid and other goods necessary for the survival of the civilian population. population.

According to the IPC report, if a ceasefire is not reached and humanitarian aid deliveries are not increased, food shortages will become acute in other parts of the Palestinian enclave, including larger settlements in the south such as Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis.
