Journalists killed in Israeli strike on Gaza hospital

A total of 192 journalists have been killed since the start of the conflict in Gaza, AP notes

The Qatari television station Al Jazeera announced that at least one of its journalists, photojournalist and cameraman Mohammed Salama, was killed in the Israeli strike on the "Nasser" hospital in Gaza. According to the Palestinian enclave's civil defense service, at least 15 people were killed, four of whom were journalists and one - a member of the service, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

The Associated Press reports that among the dead was Mariam Dakka, who worked for the agency as a freelancer. The 33-year-old journalist was at the hospital for a report aimed at showing how doctors there are trying to save children with no previous health problems who are on the verge of starving to death.

Reuters reports that its cameraman Hussam al-Masri is among the dead. Photographer Hatem Khaled, also working for the British agency, is among the wounded.

A total of 192 journalists have been killed since the start of the conflict in Gaza, the AP notes, citing the Committee to Protect Journalists. So far, 18 media workers have died in the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The Israeli army said it was verifying information about the strike.
