Summer is not over yet, but the first snowflakes have fallen in Romania, local media report. We are talking about the Rodna Mountain in Maramures – the highest point in the Eastern Carpathians, BTA reported.

The atypical winter landscape for this time of year was filmed by a tourist who was on a hike. She was near the Pietrosu Peak, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters.

A temperature close to a monthly record, -1.7 degrees, was recorded in the Maramures and Transylvania region early this morning, the National Meteorological Service reported in the meantime. They predict that the upcoming night will be even colder. At 1 p.m. local time, thermometers in Bucharest showed 22 degrees, BTA saw on site.

The National Meteorological Service also informed that warm weather will return from Wednesday and it is not excluded that by Friday or Saturday temperature values of 33-35 degrees Celsius will be recorded again, especially in Banat, in Crisana, as well as in the southern part of Oltenia and Muntenia.
