China said on Monday that it was not reasonable or realistic to expect the country to start nuclear disarmament talks with the United States and Russia, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun made the remarks after U.S. President Donald Trump said he had discussed nuclear arms control with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and wanted China to join in.

"China's and the United States' nuclear forces are not at the same level and the two countries' nuclear policies are very different," Guo said.

The spokesman also touched on another topic, saying that China hopes the United States will work on Trump's commitment to China's students.

Guo Jiakun called on the US to stop the "unprovoked harassment, interrogation and deportation" of Chinese students.

Trump said yesterday that American colleges would be in a difficult situation if they did not accept Chinese students, after his supporters criticized him for saying he would allow 600,000 Chinese students into the country.
