An Israeli army spokesman said today that the evacuation of Gaza City is inevitable, reported Agence France-Presse. The spokesman made his statement at a time when the army is preparing to take control of the largest city in the Gaza Strip, BTA reported.

"The evacuation of Gaza City is inevitable and for this reason every family that evacuates to the southern part of the strip will receive generous humanitarian aid, which is being worked on now," wrote in "Ex" spokesman Avihai Adraei.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he would chair a "big meeting" at the White House today for the Gaza Strip, announced his special envoy Steve Witkoff.

Witkoff told Fox News on Wednesday that the Trump administration is developing a "very detailed plan" for the post-war future of the Palestinian territory. "I think a lot of people will be convinced how solid and well-intentioned (the plan) is, which) reflects the humanitarian motives of the (US) president," he added, without giving further details.

Witkoff predicted that the war in Gaza would end by the end of this year.

Israeli citizens also took to the streets yesterday demanding the immediate release of the hostages and an end to the war in Gaza, DPA reported.

There were demonstrations and roadblocks across the country. A major highway near Tel Aviv was blocked. North of the city, protesters piled tires on a highway and set them on fire.
