The White House said on Monday that President Donald Trump was "not happy" with learning that Russia had attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones last night, killing at least 15 people and damaging buildings, including the British Council building in Kiev, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

"He was not happy with the news, but he was also not surprised. These are two countries that have been at war for a very long time," White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt told reporters.

Levitt added that Trump would make a further statement on the situation later.

The death toll from the Russian airstrike on Kiev overnight rose to 19. About ten people may still be trapped under the rubble, Ukrinform reported, citing a message from the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, on the Telegram app.

“Nineteen dead. Search and rescue operations at the scene of the attack in the “Darnytskyi“ district are continuing,“ he wrote.

The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, specified on Telegram that four children were among the victims.

So far, 63 people are known to have been injured, including 11 children. Thirty-five injured people have been admitted to hospitals for treatment, including six children.
