The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement condemning the Russian air strikes against Kiev yesterday morning, the online edition of the newspaper “Kathimerini“ reports, BTA reported.

According to Ukrainian authorities, quoted by the Associated Press, at least 23 people were killed and 48 others were injured in yesterday's attack, while damage was also caused to the diplomatic mission of the European Union. The drone and missile attack was the first major Russian attack on Kiev in weeks as U.S. efforts to end the three-year war try to gain momentum, the AP notes.

Britain said the attack sabotaged peace efforts, and the EU's top diplomat Kaia Kallas summoned the Russian ambassador in Brussels over the strikes that damaged the bloc's diplomatic mission in the Ukrainian capital, the agency recalls.

“We are appalled by Russia's attack on Kiev, which killed innocent civilians and seriously damaged infrastructure and diplomatic facilities, including the EU mission. We express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and unequivocally condemn this flagrant violation of international law. Greece stands in full solidarity with Ukraine and its people,“, the Greek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
