Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has rejected accusations about the sanctions recovery mechanism, questioning the credibility of European countries, which he said themselves violated international laws, AFP reported.
"We are absolutely not seeking the activation of the sanctions recovery mechanism... How can such statements be accepted by these countries?", Masoud Pezeshkian said on Friday during a media discussion.
Pezeshkian stressed that his greater concern is with Iran, not abroad.
"My fear is not about the sanctions recovery mechanism or foreign threats; "My real concern is with internal divisions," he said, adding that "the US and Israel are trying to divide and overthrow Iran, but no Iranian wants the country to be divided."
On national security, he stressed Iran's defensive stance. "We are not looking for war, but if they attack us, we will confront them with force. We do not want war, we said so from the beginning, but we are not afraid of it either."
