One dead after car deliberately rams into pedestrians in French city of Evreux

Five injured in incident

A car deliberately rammed into a group of pedestrians yesterday in the central part of the French city of Evreux, on the night of August 30. The impact killed at least one person and injured five others, the city's mayor Guy Lefran announced on social media, Ground News reports, quoted by FOCUS.

It all started around 4 a.m. in a bar in the city, where a verbal and physical altercation broke out involving a woman and several men, BFM television reports.

The security guards escorted about a hundred people out of the establishment. It was then that one of those involved in the dispute started his car in reverse, pushing pedestrians through the entrance of the establishment.

The prosecutor's office announced that it had detained two men and one woman. An investigation into the case has been opened for murder and attempted murder.
