Israel has identified the body of hostage Idan Shtevy, which it managed to recover in a military operation this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said today, as quoted by Reuters.
The bodies of two hostages were found in the operation.
Netanyahu's office said yesterday that the body of hostage Ilan Weiss had been found, along with the remains of another hostage who was initially not named.
After finding the bodies of Weiss and Shtevy, Israel said that 48 hostages remained in the Gaza Strip, of whom only 20 were believed to be alive.
About 1,200 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage in the unprecedented attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas" against Israel in October 2023.
