The Wall Street Journal: Witkoff briefed Trump on his latest meeting with Putin

The content of his conversations with the American leader rarely reaches other members of the American administration, the publication writes

The US President's special envoy for peacekeeping missions, Stephen Witkoff, reported to Donald Trump about his conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other world leaders, The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the newspaper, Witkoff regularly calls Trump immediately after his meetings with Putin. At the same time, the content of his conversations with the American leader rarely reaches other members of the American administration, the newspaper points out.

White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt told the publication that Witkoff "is not expected to do anything more" than brief Trump and his national security team.

On August 19, in an interview with Fox News, Witkoff said that he spent a total of about 24-25 hours in meetings with Putin and his inner circle. The special envoy of the American leader has repeatedly flown to Russia, where he was received by the Russian leadership, including the head of state. The parties discussed mainly issues related to the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
