The death toll from the earthquake in eastern Afghanistan has now reached 900, with over 3,000 injured, rescue teams reported, quoted by the Associated Press, reports BTA.
The magnitude 6 earthquake shook the country late Sunday night, destroying entire villages and trapping many people under the rubble of their homes. A spokesman for Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Authority said the death toll could rise significantly.
The agency said the quake had caused landslides in some areas, blocking entire roads.
