Ukraine will never agree to accept the Russian occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and the withdrawal of Russian troops is the only way to ensure its safety, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
The ministry's statement did not explicitly mention Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said during his visit to China that Moscow was ready to cooperate with the United States regarding the nuclear power plant, which was seized by Russia in the first weeks after the invasion in February 2022.
"The Zaporizhzhia NPP is and will remain an integral part of the sovereign territory of Ukraine. "Any attempt by Russia to question this fact is legally null and politically meaningless," the ministry said.
"The only way to restore nuclear safety is the immediate and complete withdrawal of the Russian military and other personnel from the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant," the statement added.
