Russia will not discuss the idea of foreign military intervention in Ukraine in any format. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at a briefing on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, commenting on the EU's plans for the possible sending of troops to Ukraine as part of providing security guarantees.
“Russia will not discuss fundamentally unacceptable foreign interference in Ukraine, which undermines any security in any form, in any format“, the diplomat emphasized.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry drew attention to the statement of the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen about the existence of “a certain clear plan for the possible sending of troops to the territory of Ukraine as part of providing security guarantees after the ceasefire“. According to her, work on the issue is progressing very successfully. “We see this”, Zakharova noted. “Judging by Ukraine's losses, the European Commission has simply outdone itself. Von der Leyen also belligerently added that the body she heads will explore new sources of funding for the Ukrainian armed forces and stressed that the first line of defense in Ukraine is a strong Ukrainian army, and the second is a multinational coalition of the willing with the support of the Americans.“
According to Zakharova, the EU leadership “must somehow convey this to them, so that the next time they want to discuss this topic, they have a hint in the form of the Russian position.“
