US President Donald Trump believes that Elon Musk will eventually return to the Republican Party because he is a reasonable person.
“I think he has no other choice“, said the American leader in an interview with American radio host Scott Jennings in response to a question about the possibility of Musk returning to the Republican Party. “He is a reasonable person, a good person. He was wayward and did something wrong, but that is good.“
Trump admitted that he always liked Musk and “still likes him“. "He's a good guy, 80% of him is a super genius, the other 20% is a problem. When he gets better, he'll be great," the American leader said.
After Musk left government service, he and Trump had a loud public showdown on June 5 via social media. The businessman said that without his support, the head of the US administration would not have won the elections in November 2024, approved the idea of a new attempt to impeach Trump, criticized the government spending bill developed at the initiative of the White House and the import tariffs imposed by the president. Trump called Musk crazy and said that at one point he stopped performing his duties conscientiously when he led the work of the Department of Increased Government Efficiency (DOGE).
On July 5, Musk announced that he would create a political party based on the results of the vote in X. The businessman announced the goal of creating the party to “return freedom“. Over 1.2 million social media users participated in the vote. 65.4% voted for the creation of a new party. On July 6, Musk filed an application for registration of a political party with the US Federal Election Commission (FEC), which would be called “America“ (AMEP). Later, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources, that Musk had suspended the creation of the party in order to focus on business and not take away votes from the US Republican Party. The publication indicated that Musk is considering using his financial resources to support current US Vice President J.D. Vance if he decides to run for president in 2028.
