Italy will not send troops to Ukraine to monitor compliance with a possible peace agreement with Russia, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told the “Coalition of the Willing“, ANSA reported, BTA reports.

A statement from Meloni's office specified that the country supports “a collective security and defense mechanism inspired by Article 5 of the Washington Treaty“, as a key element of the political component of Ukraine's security guarantees.

Meloni stressed that Italy is ready to support the ceasefire through monitoring and training initiatives outside Ukrainian territory.
