Donald Trump was an FBI informant in the case of American financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of prostitution with minors.

„Trump is not saying that the Epstein case was fabricated. It is a terrible, unspeakable evil. He himself believes it. When he first heard rumors about it, he kicked him out of Mar-a-Lago (Trump's residence in Florida). "He was an FBI informant to try to stop this," Johnson said in response to questions from reporters, said House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana).

The House Speaker also clarified that Trump did not use the word "fabricated" in reference to the Epstein case itself. "What Trump is talking about is a fabrication that Democrats are using to hurt him," Johnson said.

According to Johnson, Trump distanced himself from Epstein when he learned what the financier was accused of. "He hates what Epstein is accused of and who he was. And when Trump found out about this, when he realized that Epstein was not just a worldly person, but an evil man who was allegedly involved in unscrupulous schemes, the president distanced himself from him even before he became president, because he is not that,“ said the congressman.

Epstein was arrested by New York State law enforcement on July 6, 2019. Prosecutors said they had evidence that he arranged visits to his Manhattan home for dozens of underage girls, the youngest of whom was 14 years old, between 2002 and 2005. Epstein's circle of friends and acquaintances included a large number of current and retired officials not only in the United States but also in many other countries (including former heads of state), major entrepreneurs and show business stars. The financier's criminal prosecution in the United States was dropped after his suicide in a prison cell on August 10, 2019. Donald Trump was president of the United States from 2017 to 2021 and will take office again in 2025.
