Afghan Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salam Hanafi called on the world community on Saturday to unfrozen Afghan assets and recognize the Islamic Emirate during the international conference “Attracting Investment and Supporting Afghanistan's Energy Sector“ held in Kabul, the Afghan-IRCA news agency reported.

Today, Afghanistan is striving to become a link between Central and South Asia... the world community must unfrozen Afghan assets and recognize the Islamic Emirate“, the publication quoted the deputy prime minister as saying.

Hanafi stressed that countries around the world must support Afghanistan in implementing its economic projects to create jobs and provide employment for young people. “Afghanistan pursues a balanced policy and strives for good-neighborly relations with all countries in the region and beyond, based on mutual respect“, Hanafi said, emphasizing that no one will be allowed to use Afghanistan's territory against neighboring countries, the region and beyond.

“This is a firm policy of the current government“, he stressed, noting that “Afghanistan has created favorable conditions for investment and according to available data, the country has the potential to produce over 24,000 megawatts of hydroelectric power.” The Deputy Prime Minister stated that “currently, 80% of Afghanistan's electricity comes from domestic sources, and it is also imported from Iran, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan“.
