More than 425 people have been arrested in London during a protest against the British government's ban on the group "Palestinian Action", marked by clashes with police, BNR reported.

Thousands gathered in the square in front of Parliament in the center of the British capital to express their disagreement with the ban on the group, with some holding posters reading: "I oppose genocide, I support "Palestinian Action". The Metropolitan Police said that the majority of the arrests were for supporting a banned organization. More than 25 people were arrested for assaulting police officers and other public order offences.

In July, the government banned "Palestinian Action" under the Terrorism Act, making membership or support of the group a crime punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

Police said officers were subjected to "extreme harassment", including "punching, kicking, spitting and throwing objects, in addition to verbal abuse." Protest organisers responded by saying officers had overstepped their authority by attacking peaceful protesters, including elderly people, simply for holding cardboard signs and shared a video of a police officer shoving an elderly protester to the ground.
