Dmitriev: Peace is close thanks to the dialogue between Trump and Putin

Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev called the statements of some Western countries about preparing for war with Russia extremely dangerous

The settlement of the Ukrainian conflict is getting closer thanks to the dialogue between the presidents of the US and Russia, said the special representative of the Russian President for economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev.

„Peace is close thanks to the dialogue between Trump and Putin“, he wrote on his X page, commenting on the publication of the former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul.

According to him, attempts to put pressure on Moscow with sanctions have failed. He noted that the Ukrainian conflict can be resolved through dialogue, respect and understanding for each other.

On August 15, a meeting of the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States was held at a military base in Alaska. In a statement to the press after the talks, Putin said that the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict was the main topic of the past summit. The Russian leader also called for turning the page in bilateral relations and returning to cooperation, and invited Trump to Moscow.

Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev called statements by some Western countries about preparations for war with Russia "extremely dangerous".

"We do not accept militarization, preparations by some Western countries for war with Russia. We hear such statements from time to time. This, of course, does not make us happy, and in our opinion, it is extremely dangerous," Nechaev said at a commemorative event at Holte-Schuckenbrock Castle dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. "The relations between our countries and peoples have always shaped the political climate in Europe and the continent, contributing to its security, stability and prosperity," he stressed.

The Russian ambassador expressed hope that "multifaceted Russian-German contacts, the unique basis and network of bilateral cooperation, trusting partnership will be restored over time." Many German citizens, he noted, are calling for this.
