The ceremony is held at the Armani/Teatro exhibition space in Milan

Over 6,000 people honored the memory of fashion designer Giorgio Armani on the first day of farewell, SkyTG24 reported, citing the organizers of the ceremony.

The ceremony is held at the Armani/Teatro exhibition space in Milan. Its doors were open on Saturday from 9:00 to 18:00 Moscow time. Even before the opening of the funeral hall, as reported by a RIA Novosti correspondent, a group of Armani employees lined up in front of the building and were let in first. On the left side of the entrance there was a line of Italians stretching for several hundred meters. Guests waited from an hour and a half to two hours. On Sunday, the ceremony will continue at the same hours.

The farewell to the fashion designer is taking place in a spacious hall decorated with dozens of floor lamps. They form a carpet that ends at a closed coffin made of light wood. It has a guard of honor in place as a sign of the designer's national merit. Armani, in particular, was a knight of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

Armani died on Thursday at the age of 91. According to Armani Group, he died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. In accordance with the designer's wishes, the funeral will be private and will take place on Monday.
