The first installations of the two Patriot air defense systems that Germany promised to Ukraine have been delivered, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Berlin will also launch an initiative on long-range artillery and will strengthen its support for the supply of long-range drones through Ukrainian industry, concluding contracts with defense companies in the country worth 300 million euros, he said at a meeting in London of the "Rammstein" group of Kiev's military partners.

Germany announced on August 1 that it would deliver two Patriot systems to Ukraine after reaching an agreement with the United States that would put Berlin first in line to receive the latest systems in exchange, Reuters reported.

Thanks to the US commitment, "Germany can initially support Ukraine with launchers and then with additional components of the Patriot system," German Defense Minister Pistorius said at the time.
