The entry of drones into Polish airspace last night was repelled by the air forces of Poland and NATO allies, a spokesman for the alliance confirmed today. The Secretary General of the pact is in contact with the Polish leadership, the spokesman added in a post on the social network "Ex", BTA reports.
The Supreme Command of NATO forces in Europe specified that it coordinated with Warsaw the activities related to the entry of drones over Poland. NATO's response was swift and decisive, demonstrating our ability to defend allied territories, the statement added.
It is specified that in the early hours of the day Poland reported a violation of its airspace, and later expressed gratitude for the support of the Allied Air Command and the Netherlands Air Force, which targeted possible threats to the alliance's territory. It is noted that this is the first such case.
It is added that German Patriot air defense systems stationed in Poland, as well as Italian radar aircraft and multinational air tankers, were also activated in response to the threat.
