Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevost commented that it is not necessary to trigger Article 5 of the Washington Treaty due to the entry of Russian drones over Poland. We must avoid the trap of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who aims to put the West on a fighting footing against Moscow in order to reinforce his explanations that it is a victim, Prevost said, quoted by local media, BTA reported.

According to him, the incident in Poland was intended to test the reaction of NATO countries. We must remain calm and avoid an excessive response, the minister urged. According to Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken, in the event of a sudden attack, Russia would launch up to 2,000 drones. According to Belgian media, only 19 drones were used in yesterday's incident.

According to the opinion of political scientist from Ghent University Henrik Vos, quoted in the media, Russia is deepening the war, and NATO will do everything possible to limit such a development. He does not rule out Poland being drawn into the war, which would inevitably lead to the involvement of the allies. According to Belgian Chief of Defense Gen. Frederic Vansina, Russia is currently not in a position to wage a direct military conflict with NATO, because it will lose due to Western technological superiority.
