A 47-year-old man has died after being electrocuted on a street in the Albanian city of Durres, which was flooded by torrential rains last night, the Albanian Radio and Television reported, BTA reported.

It is believed that while crossing the flooded street and trying to avoid puddles, the man grabbed a high-voltage pole, after which the electric shock led to his death.

Investigative authorities are working to clarify the case, and civil protection teams and the fire service are working to drain the water from the affected areas in the city.

The torrential rains in the country also affected the cities of Lezha (northwestern Albania) and Vlora (southwestern Albania), the media outlet also reported. In Lezhë, the sewage system could not handle the amount of rain that poured down, and in Vlora, water flooded several roads.
