When we all expected Kia to play it safe with the prices of its new electric car in the compact class, the Koreans literally “killed the fish“. The new EV2 is already a fact on the European market and, believe it or not, it is much more affordable than even the most daring analysts’ forecasts indicated. Sales in our country have not yet started.

And while in the automotive lobby there was whispering about a starting price of at least 30,000 euros, KIA officially announced: the starting price is 26,600 euros. This is not just a cosmetic discount, but a real strategic offensive. With this figure, the EV2 becomes the most affordable “entry ticket“ into the modern electric era of the brand, leaving competitors at a loss.

“Small on the outside, giant on the inside“ – the old maxim with a new interpretation

Although on paper the EV2 looks modest with its length of just over 4 meters (more compact even than its direct rival Volkswagen ID.3), the engineering magic in the cabin is impressive. With a 2565 mm wheelbase and a completely flat floor, the interior simply “breathes“.

Rear seat passengers will feel like they are in a limousine with a full 958 mm of legroom – an indicator that was until recently the preserve of its bigger brother KIA Soul. As for the luggage compartment, with 403 liters of volume, this is more than enough for the Sunday market or a family weekend out of town.

Technical arsenal

Kia offers the model in three flavors: Air, Earth and GT-Line. To keep the price within reasonable limits, engineers have relied on a 400-volt architecture on the proven E-GMP platform. The result? Charging from 10% to 80% in about half an hour.
