After a long advertising campaign and even longer development, Mercedes finally showed the electric G-Klasse without any camouflage. The company has released detailed information and photos of the legendary SUV, which received the long-awaited electric version. In appearance, you can distinguish it only by the changes in the grille, which is illuminated and almost completely “faded”, as well as by the obvious lack of exhaust tips. Another stylistic element is the absence of a spare tire, which has been replaced by a square box for the charging cables.
The drive is entrusted to four electric motors with a power of 579 horsepower, which allow acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. The limited top speed is 180 km/h, and it seems that Mercedes has focused more on off-road capabilities than high performance. The battery has a capacity of 116 kWh, but the maximum range remains a mystery for the moment.
The electric G580 with EQ technology boasts a ground clearance of 24.9 cm and an approach angle of 32.0 degrees. Additional off-road features include “slow” enabled by a two-speed shiftable transmission, a climb function and a "G-Turn" capability that allows it to spin on the spot. Mercedes has not yet disclosed the price, but it is expected to be announced in the near future.
