The market of 7-seater crossovers with mileage and price under BGN 40,000 was thoroughly studied by the team us, as among the contenders in this class and at this price, a relatively robust and reliable purchase model stands out.
It is about the Skoda Kodiaq. When buying for this amount, you can count on about seven-year-old specimens with a mileage of up to 250 thousand kilometers. At the same time, these Kodiaq models can be both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
In any case, the suspension of this model is generally reliable and does not require significant maintenance costs, but some electronic systems can cause problems.
A manual gearbox is available with the smaller engines and mainly on the front-wheel drive versions. All other variants are with robots, which may be the main problem in this crossover, as DSGs rarely last 150,000 km without changing clutches and/or dual-mass flywheels. And something else. Among the engines, there is no naturally aspirated one.
The basic (125, 150 hp) Kodiaq engines are updated after the restyling of the model, where the problematic timing chain is replaced with a belt. But carbon deposits and waste remained - the manufacturer allows oil consumption up to a liter per 1000 km. But the engine resource is not enough.
The 2.0 gasoline engine (180 hp) has also been improved in terms of reliability, but the Czechs forgot to improve the life of the timing chain and that of the oil pump, whose failures lead to mechanical failures.
The best option is diesel 2.0 (150 hp). But it's also a bit more expensive. However, this version is worth the money. With it, you will have to fight mainly against leaks, although leaks are inherent in almost all Kadiaq units, including those from the bevel gear in the transmission.
Despite these drawbacks, a used Kodiaq is one of the best deals if you're looking for a large crossover with relatively low repair and maintenance costs. And what models are sold in our country, you can see HERE .
