German automaker Audi said that when designing the battery for the PPE platform, engineers prioritized not only on the mileage, but also on the charging speed.
The maximum charging power of the Audi Q6 e-tron is 270 kW, which allows you to get a range of up to 225 km in just 10 minutes of charging. This figure is achieved thanks to the 800-volt architecture and the battery with a capacity of 100 kWh.
The automaker also reported that the battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 21 minutes. Audi also revealed that an electric crossover version with a smaller 83kWh battery will be available soon.
There is a technology for the so-called "banking" charging for charging stations that operate on a 400-volt architecture. The battery management controllers are activated at the start of the charging process and split the battery in half. Thus, they can be charged in parallel with a power of up to 135 kW.
The Audi Q6 e-tron has a CCS type port that supports DC and AC charging stations. The crossover supports AC power up to 11 kW, and later the automaker will offer support up to 22 kW, but as an option.
Furthermore, the crossover supports the "Plug&Charge" function as standard. Allows you to insert the charging cable after activating the car to start the automatic charging process. Audi says the feature works with IONITY stations, but will also be able to charge at other companies' stations.
