BMW has announced the start of production of the Neue Klasse SUV, which with its appearance on the market at the end of 2025 will mark the new electric era for the brand and for off-road vehicles.
The first Vision Neue Klasse concepts have already attracted attention, but the successor to the iX3 will be the first to enter mass production. It was previously assumed that assembly would begin in July 2025, but now the company specifies that the official start date will be closer to the end of the year.
It's important to note that BMW has never announced an exact launch date, so there's really no delay. The announcement of the launch of the SUV in 2025 remains in force.
Production of the new second generation iX3 will be organized at the new BMW plant in Debrecen, Hungary. This state-of-the-art facility already employs more than 1,000 people, and pre-production is due to begin this year.
The new production cars are expected to start rolling off the assembly line by the end of 2025. The new plant is designed to produce around 150,000 cars a year. BMW invested more than 1 billion euros in this project.
The iX3 will be BMW's first electric car to use sixth-generation batteries. Zipse also said at the meeting that these new batteries will provide a range of up to 300 kilometers (186 miles) in just 10 minutes of charging.
BMW management has confirmed that the new batteries will increase range and charging speed by 30%. Zipse also noted that the company's management has already tested a pre-production model of the Neue Klasse SUV and experienced real emotions.
„The board of directors has already had the opportunity to drive the pre-production car - and, believe me, it gave us goosebumps,” he said.
