Against the background of massively old cars in our country, such a proposal borders on madness, commented the industry of used car importers. And the proposal itself is part of the new Integrated Plan for Energy, the goal of which was to reduce harmful emissions.
These emissions can be reduced, but this will be at the expense of a large part of the population, who will simply be left without cars. Because the proposal affects cars that are about 20 years old, which are a huge part of the cars driving on the country's roads. Experts comment that people from small towns and villages will be most affected.
Well, these people, in addition to being left without a car, will not be able to sell their current one either, as there is a ban on selling them in Mercedes. That is, they will only be able to return for scrap and get "yellow pennies". Not to mention that many of the used car dealers and a large part of the repair shops in the country will suffer.
And the average Bulgarian can hardly afford a new "electric car", the price of the cheapest of which starts at BGN 45,000. The other insane measure is to drastically increase taxes on old cars, which, apart from further impoverishing population will result in revenues to the treasury that we don't know where they are going anyway.
