The Mazda CX-30 and Mazda 3 have received a new, more powerful and improved base engine for the 2025 model year. These versions of the Mazda 3 are now available for purchase, and orders for the Mazda CX-30 crossover will open soon.

The new 2.5-liter e-Skyactiv G gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology, similar to that installed in the popular Mazda CX-5, now produces 138 hp. and 238 Nm of torque, which significantly “exceeds“ the previous 2.0-liter engine with 120 hp. and 213 Nm.

The additional power of the new engine allows acceleration to 100 km/h a second faster than before. However, Mazda is focusing on improving real-world performance thanks to the new engine's increased torque.

Mazda also claims that the new unit has improved noise, vibration and stiffness indicators, providing a higher level of comfort. New features include cylinder deactivation technology and a mild hybrid system that helps improve fuel economy and makes stopping and starting in traffic as smooth as possible.

The new unit can be combined with both a six-speed manual and an automatic gearbox in the Mazda 3 and CX-30 models. Meanwhile, the 183-horsepower e-Skyactiv-X engine offered in both cars remains unchanged and remains the only engine available for the Mazda 3 sedan.

The exterior and interior of the Mazda 3 and CX-30 remain unchanged, but their infotainment system now includes an integrated Amazon Alexa virtual assistant and can receive navigation updates via the cloud.
