Great Wall has revealed the features of the first Shehn 400 with a diesel engine. In the open database of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the People's Republic of China, information appeared about a Tank 400 with a 2.4-liter engine running on “heavy“ fuel.
The drive unit will develop 186 horsepower, that is, we are most likely talking about the same diesel unit as on the Great Wall Pao/Poer pickups, Haval H9 and the Tank SUV. In this case, the turbodiesel will develop 480 Nm of torque and will be combined with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The certification documents contain photos of a diesel Tank 400, and this SUV differs in appearance from the hybrid only in the absence of an electric charging hatch and the plates. And the dimensions are identical: the body is almost five meters long with a wheelbase of 2.85 meters, and the difference is only half a centimeter in height. Without a hybrid powertrain, the 400 model becomes much lighter, and its weight in the diesel version is optimized by as much as 315 kilograms!
Diesel Tank 400 can be factory equipped with a towbar, the maximum weight of the towed trailer being 2.5 tons. The new product does not have a three-row interior. In terms of equipment, the diesel version has 265/65 R18 wheels, can have a panoramic roof or a small sunroof. The main market for the diesel "400" it might not be China because in the Middle Kingdom hybrids have more advantages.
As for the diesel engine, it is also intended for the “younger“ Tank 300: the development of such an SUV was de facto confirmed by the brand's top manager three months ago. However, such an all-terrain vehicle has not yet passed certification, so the first-born with such an engine will be the Tank 400.
