BMW Group Bulgaria made a curious self-assessment of the company's results from the beginning of the year to the end of September. For us, the sale of Bavarian cars on the territory of Bulgaria is of interest, and it is these results that we will focus on now.
Since the beginning of 2024, 1,201 new BMWs have been sold in our country. Compared to the results of 2023, this represents an increase of 18%, which, given the overall decline in new car purchases, is defined as a very good achievement. The results are good, especially against the background of many of the other EU countries. It is Europe that is the brand's most important market, because 39% of BMW's global sales are realized on the territory of the Old Continent.
The model distribution is impressive, determining what new BMWs the Bulgarian is looking for. It turns out (strangely or not) that the most sought-after models are naked SUVs with indices X7 and X5. The share of other off-road vehicles (X3 and X1) is not small, and they are followed by the new seventh series and X6. Or in other words, Bulgarians prefer the big and significantly more expensive BMWs.
We will finish the topic of BMWs with increased cross-country ability with one more interesting fact. As is known, in addition to the X-models, almost all the rest of the BMW range also have X-drive versions. Statistics show that Bulgarians prefer the 4x4 drive, because since the beginning of the year over 80% of all cars sold have X-drive.
As for the engines, here too it can be said that there are surprises - maybe not for us, but for the Europeans there definitely are. It turns out that, despite the trend towards electrification imposed by the EU, Bulgarians continue to bet on diesel BMWs. They account for almost 40% of all sales. As for the engines, six-cylinder engines are the most popular in our country, and from the colors, the people of Nashen mainly choose black, gray and white.
