Mercedes-Benz is preparing to present the third generation of the CLA sedan. The model will not only be updated externally, but will also receive a new engine. And here comes the interesting part. This 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine was jointly developed with Geely and Horse.
Its power is claimed to be 250 hp. and 360 Nm of torque. The engine will be complemented by a mild 48-volt hybrid drive. It is worth saying that the catalytic converter will be installed in Germany so that the new product meets European CO2 emission standards.
It should also be noted that Geely's engine won't be the only Chinese technology used in the CLA. The car will also get active safety systems developed by Chinese startup Momenta. The CLA will thus be the first Mercedes-Benz with an urban driving assistance function.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLA will be built on the MMA platform. In addition to hybrid versions, fully electric versions will also be available. With one electric motor, the model will generate 238 hp. power and will be able to travel up to 750 km on a single charge. The novelty is expected to debut in 2025.
