The Audi Q7 full-size crossovers have been produced since 2005. Already in its first generation, this luxury crossover combines premium style, high performance and many modern technologies. The car is built on the Volkswagen Group's MLB platform, which is also used for such models as the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg. In turn, competitors of Audi Q7 are BMW X5, Mercedes GLE and Volvo XC90.
Now these cars of their first generation are on the secondary market, and some of them still command quite high prices. A quick look at mobile.bg, the largest car website in our country, shows that on the home market you can find a 10-12 year old Audi Q7 crossover at a price below BGN 20,000. You should know, however, that most of these cars have a mileage of over 200,000 km.
For this, it is recommended to focus on a copy after the facelift of the first generation of Q7, and it must be diesel. During the restyling in 2010, naturally aspirated engines were removed. The remaining gasoline engines are turbo 3.0 TFSI (272 or 333 hp) with direct injection, but they are not recommended, as they are characterized by oil consumption, piston wear, thermostat damage and a rather high average consumption of fuel.
Compared to them, the versions equipped with a V-shaped six-cylinder 3.0 diesel (245 hp) are preferable, which are not bad at all.
They are characterized by a cast iron block and, if well maintained, have a service life of over 500,000 km. True, they also use oil, but not as much as gasoline ones. Their main problems are related to not cleaning the particulate filter and the EGR system. But despite all this, it is the optimal option for the old Q7, because the large diesel engines V8 4.1 (340 hp) and V12 5.9 (500 hp) are much more difficult and expensive to repair. And most importantly, their hydraulic automatic transmissions break down much faster.
All engines except the 5.9-liter are mated to an 8-speed AL1000 transmission, also known as the Aisin TR-80SD. The problem with this box comes from the high torque of the big diesels. but if you choose the three-liter V6, you won't have any special complaints. This gearbox lasts more than 350 thousand km. The ZF transmission, although designed for higher loads, cannot cope with the power of the 5.9 diesel engine with a capacity of 500 horsepower.
More of the disadvantages of the most optimal variant with a three-liter diesel engine are that at a mileage of 20-30 thousand kilometers, wear of the brake discs and linings is observed. Door locks and windshield wiper arms are also often damaged. There are system faults in both the electrical installation and the electronics, but overall this is one of the optimal options for a golyum premium "jeep". in the old way. But keep in mind that like any such premium car, this car is not cheap to maintain. You can see what copies of this model and how much they are available in our country HERE.
