Mercedes-Benz continues to develop its electric vehicle strategy, but now it has become clear that it is not giving up on investments and development of diesel engines.

According to company representatives, the demand for diesel remains consistently high: 74% of customers in the passenger car segment and 90% of those in commercial vehicles prefer diesel engines.

Mercedes-Benz diesel engines demonstrate high efficiency. For example, the A-Class model with a two-liter engine with a power of 116 hp consumes only 3.4 liters per 100 kilometers, making diesel competitive with gasoline and even electric cars.

The company plans to use diesel engines in mid- and high-end models such as the C-Class, while integrating the latest technologies to reduce emissions and improve efficiency.

In March 2025, Mercedes-Benz will introduce a new mild hybrid gasoline engine that will complement the brand's ecological development vector.

"Although the future of Mercedes-Benz is focused on electrification, diesel engines remain an important element of the company's strategy, providing a wide choice for customers and a balance between innovation and traditional technologies," the German brand says.
