The new owner of the copyright of the trademark in the automotive category became the company JSC "Production of Passenger Cars" (PLA), reports "Avtopotok", citing data from Rospatent.
Officially, "PLA" is not part of the GAZ group and is not its legal entity, but the address of the company's head office coincides with the location of the GAZ headquarters. In fact, GAZ transferred the production facilities of the joint-stock company, which previously produced Skoda and Volkswagen cars.
The day before, it became known that Passenger Car Production JSC was preparing to begin testing future Volga models: the test cars received state license plates that are not tied to VIN codes.
The Volga cars, first shown in May last year, were planned to enter mass production before the end of 2024, but for undisclosed reasons the deadlines were postponed.
The Volga model line includes C- and D-class crossovers with K30 and K40 indices, as well as a C40 business-class sedan. All three models are equipped with a 188-horsepower gasoline engine with 300 Nm of torque, it is coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch robot. Otherwise, it is clear that, like the Moskvich, the new Volgas will be copies of Chinese cars.
