Great Wall Motor is about to create a new ultra-luxury car brand. According to Chinese media, citing insiders, the brand is codenamed BG. According to them, the cars of the new brand will be equipped with a powerful four-liter V8 turbo engine developed by Great Wall.
The model line will include sedans and supercars. To develop the cars, the Chinese companies plan to attract specialists who worked on models of luxury brands from Europe.
The new brand is expected to focus on high-quality small-scale production of cars and therefore use more innovative and high-tech materials.
Great Wall Chairman Jianjun has already been appointed head of the brand, and Great Wall Vice President of Technology Dongxiang becomes CEO.
Great Wall currently has five brands in its portfolio: Haval, Wey, Tank, Ora and Poer. It is believed that the new car brand will be much more expensive than anything the concern has now, with prices starting at 1 million yuan (about 133,000 euros).
