Before the official debut of the next-generation Skoda Octavia, the company will present a concept version of the model. The premiere will take place at the Munich Motor Show, which opens on September 9.
As Skoda CEO Klaus Zellmer told Autocar , the concept will be a station wagon designed in the new style of the brand. It will receive an electric drive and will be based on the new SSP platform.
This architecture, which is currently being developed, will form the basis for all electric vehicles from the Volkswagen Group in the future. Skoda emphasizes that the SSP platform will provide higher performance and efficiency compared to current solutions.
Zellmer also noted that the serial electric version of the Octavia should appear by the end of this decade. At the same time, its closest competitor and technical relative - the Volkswagen ID.Golf - will come out earlier and will determine the direction for the development of the electric hatchback and station wagon segment.
At the same time, Skoda does not plan to completely abandon the hybrid versions of the Octavia: they will remain in the model line in parallel with the electric version. Before the launch of the electric Octavia, the brand will present two more electric vehicles.
The first will be the compact crossover Skoda Epiq, which is an analogue of the Volkswagen ID.2 and Cupra Raval and should go into production in 2026. The second is the production version of the Vision 7S concept, which will become the electric equivalent of the Kodiaq.
