The French company Tipi4x4 has introduced an affordable kit for converting a pickup into a camper to the European market. The module, called Box2, offers a sleeping area and a kitchen, and its price starts at 9,000 euros.
The kit is compact and is designed to fit on the cargo bed of a standard mid-range pickup, such as a Mitsubishi L200 or Toyota Hilux. It is made of fiberglass and is lined with poplar veneer on the inside. One of its main advantages is its low weight of only 150 kg, which allows it to be easily assembled by several people.
Two or three sleeping places can be installed inside the module. It also has a folding table and a small kitchenette.
The base price of 9,000 euros is for the living module only. Additional options include mattresses (363 euros), vinyl flooring (97 euros) and a set of kitchen appliances (200 euros). For convenience, a Webasto heater can be added for 2,390 euros and a kit with an 80-liter water tank, a small battery and solar panels on the roof for 2,397 euros. With all possible options, the price of the Box2 camper remains under 15,000 euros, making it an extremely affordable alternative.
