The US Department of Commerce has denied permission to Belavia to operate Boeing aircraft to Russia and several other countries. This is stated in the department's response to the airline's request.
The document states that flights to Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria are not permitted. However, a one-time permit can be obtained for such flights.
At the same time, the carrier has the right to use the Boeing aircraft specified in the document for domestic flights in Belarus, as well as for flights to other countries not covered by the ministry's ban. Belavia. In particular, it can carry out maintenance, routine repairs and overhauls of these aircraft.
Earlier, US President's representative John Cole, at a meeting with Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, announced that the US authorities want to return their embassy to the republic and that Washington has lifted sanctions against Belavia.
