Boeing has signed a contract worth 2.47 billion USD with the US Air Force for 15 new KC-46A Pegasus tanker aircraft, the company said in a statement.
“This contract will help ensure production stability, including throughout our long-range supply chain, to continue to deliver the superior capabilities of the KC-46A“, said Boeing Vice President Jake Kwasnik.
Since production of these aircraft began in 2019, the US military has received 98 new KC-46As.
The KC-46A Pegasus is a multi-role aircraft whose functions, in addition to in-flight refueling, include air cargo and passenger transport, air medical evacuation, and transport and data exchange within the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS), one of the latest initiatives of the US Air Force to create an advanced command and control system.
